Billing Specialist - Health Care Center

The purpose of the Billing Specialist-Health Care Center is to perform accounts receivable/payable tasks, operate a multi-line telephone system, data entry, and related reporting for the Sauk County Health Care Center.

 

Essential Duties

 

  • Greet, direct, and inform visitors, residents, and other staff members.
  • Operate a multi-line telephone system answering and routing telephone calls to appropriate persons or units.
  • Sort and delivery incoming and outgoing mail, signing for packages, and deliveries for Sauk County Health Care Center purposes as well as residents.
  • Prepare and enter accounts payable for Sauk County Health Care Center.
  • Prepare and reconcile resident Trust Fund activity, cash box, monthly computer reports and receipts.
  • Prepare and submit billings from gathered data for multiple payer sources by reconciling ancillary services, resident monthly calendars, verifying payer sources and adjusting charges as needed.
  • Verify Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance prior to admission.
  • Record receipts and post to designated payer sources.
  • Follow-up billing for various billing parties and collection agencies.
  • Respond to questions concerning billing to families and insurance companies.
  • Notify repair service providers of needed service.
  • Monitor weather conditions for the facility.
  • Monitor the video camera.
  • Create and post signs for various events and notifications.
  • Monitor and order office supplies.
  • And other duties as assigned.
 

Required Working Hours

Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am. Until 4:30 pm. Please note these hours are subject to change and additional hours may be needed or required. Compensation for additional hours beyond normal working hours are subject to applicable state and federal regulations.

 

 

Minimum Training and Education

 

Required:

Associate’s Degree in accounting or another related field

 

Preferred:

1 year of experience of working in a health care facility

Experience of Medicare/Medical Assistance billing procedures and coding

 

Any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
