BREATHE is a non-profit therapeutic riding program located in Baraboo, Wisconsin. Our program was founded in 2016 and provides life-changing therapeutic riding instruction to disabled and special-needs children and adults from Sauk County and surrounding areas. Students as young as 4 years old can benefit from equine-assisted therapies at BREATHE.
The rhythmic movement and gentle gait of the horse sends vibrations to the brain through the spinal cord. Riding one of our equine therapists increases muscle control, strengthens the core and helps our students sit up and hold their head on their own.
Growing amounts of evidence show that therapeutic horsemanship has many benefits, including better use of limbs, stronger speaking ability and respiration, improved balance and coordination, increased motor skills, and increased self-esteem.
